FAQ
Is recycled paint high quality?
IPRA members are dedicated to producing high-quality latex paint products that meet stringent performance standards.
How is recycled paint made?
IPRA companies collect excess and unused latex paint through take-back programs. Each can is carefully inspected, and poor-quality paint is removed. The remaining paint is sorted by color, filtered, blended, brought up to specification, and tested for multiple attributes before being packaged.
What can you use recycled paint for?
Recycled latex paint can be used in any application where interior or exterior architectural paints are normally used.
How does recycled paint compare to virgin paint?
Recycled latex paint is “remanufactured” from unused, leftover latex paint. Paint recyclers carefully screen the unused latex paint for quality, sort the paint by categories, reblend the sorted paint, and then incorporate additional paint ingredients to ensure that the recycled paint is comparable to new paint. Unlike new paint, using recycled paint saves energy, reduces greenhouse gases, generates less pollution, consumes less water and raw materials, and conserves landfill space. All of those benefits, at a price significantly less than new paint! Using recycled latex paint can also help earn credits towards LEED building projects for using recycled-content products and for using a regional product if it is produced within 500 miles of the application location.
How much can I save by using recycled paint?
Using recycled latex paint comes with many benefits, including affordability. Purchasing recycled paint can save at least 50 percent off national brand name latex virgin paint.
Can I get a sample of recycled paint?
Yes, you can ask for a sample from recycled paint retailers or contact IPRA companies directly.
Where can I buy recycled paint?
You can find the closest recycled paint retailer by going directly to IPRA member websites.
